MK5 / MK6 VW Custom Push Button And Latching Relay Module

The Double Apex push button and relay module kit is the OEM+ switching solution. The button lighting, feel and finish match perfectly with your Volkswagen’s interior like it was factory equipped. This kit provides the functionality of a toggle switch with the style of an OEM+ push button. 

The red and amber LEDs match the factory color scheme and make it easy to tell what mode your system is in. The red LED illuminates with the other interior lights and the amber LED will indicate system status.

The kit includes the Double Apex momentary push button and a proprietary 10 amp latching relay module. The relay module allows ON / OFF switching of a power, ground or signal wire. The amber indicator LED can be wired to illuminate in either the ON or OFF position to suit your preference.

How It Works:

A typical factory momentary button is only ON while it is held down and can only handle a small amount of electrical current. A stock button sends a pulse signal to an ECU that controls something like traction control or seat heaters. To control an aftermarket system using an OEM-style button, a specialized relay is required to convert the momentary 'pulse' into a constant ON / OFF signal. The Double Apex module handles this conversion seamlessly. It is rated for 10 amps and is designed for the harsh temperatures and voltage spikes found in an automotive environment. 

When considering your application keep in mind how much current your accessory will draw. If it is more than 10 amps (5 amps for inductive loads, like electric motors and pumps) an additional higher rated relay will be required. Light bars, for example, sometimes require more than 10 amps.

For Exhaust Systems & Cutouts: This kit is compatible with most solenoid-controlled, vacuum-operated exhaust valves. It is not compatible with most electric motor-driven valves, as these require a specialized control circuit and switch to prevent motor damage.

The Compatibility Test: If your exhaust valve can be operated with a standard two-position ON / OFF toggle switch, this kit will work. However, if your system requires a three-position switch (e.g., Open/Close/Auto) or a specialized remote control, it is likely not compatible.
